DUBLIN, Ireland - More than fifteen million passengers have transited through Dublin Airport so far this year.

The figure is 8 times that of the number of passengers that passed through the Irish capital's international airport last year. However, it still falls 20 percent short of the pre-pandemic level.

A fifth of the passengers transiting the airport in the first 7 months of this year did so last month, indicative of a positive, rising trend.

July's figures were also 89 percent of those recorded prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In July, passenger volumes to and from Continental Europe saw an increase of 1.3 million versus the same month last year. That number was down by just six percent when compared to July 2019.

UK traffic reached almost 739,000 in July, an increase of 621,000 on the same month last year, and was around 79 percent of July 2019 traffic.

Passenger volumes to and from North America were at 92 percent of July 2019 levels, as 446,000 passengers travelled on transatlantic routes. Dublin Airport saw an increase of 384,000 passengers travelling to and from North America last month versus the same period last year.

Other International passenger traffic totalled 78,000, which was 63,000 more than the number in July last year, but 30 percent lower than in July 2019.

Domestic passengers have increased by 32 percent versus 2019, to 14,000. This was also almost 13,500 higher than last year.
